Fleur de Lis Fling
Louisville Country Dancers is a local contra dancing group that have a couple of events every year that feature a generally well known band and a whole weekend full of contra dancing, related workshops and good ol’ fashioned fun times. One of their annual events is the Fleur de Lis Fling which takes place in the fall. This year they needed an update on the marketing materials for the event and some integration on an online registration solution to make registering a spot for the weekend more accessible to the current times.
The first thing to do was to update the overall design. I was given an old graphic of a pair of dancing fleur de lis they wanted to use as the main focus. With a little time, converting this to vector for future use and scalability was easy peasy, lemon squeezy.
The next order of business was to come up with some ideas for t-shirts that could be sold with pre-registration and at the door. So far I’m working with the design in a fall color scheme but as of now the finalized colors are still up in the air.
After that was building the .pdf for the registration form/flyer. Essentially all that had to be done was to arrange the already existing information into an aesthetically pleasing format to layout with in two pages to have a front & back configuration.
Now, let me take a little time to pimp a little web app called Eventbrite. This is a handy little web solution for organizations to have a well developed platform for online ticket/registration sales for their events. I was pretty surprised on first glance and still continue to like how the system comes together as I learn it’s inner workings.
Project status to this point; rolling along nicely. I can’t wait to sit back and watch it work.
